Center for Family Leadership

Parents of children with disabilities--you are not alone Being the parent of a child with disabilities can be challenging, but the Center for Family Leadership can help.

The path you walk is less traveled, but you are not alone. Our Center for Family Leadership offers a one-on-one mentoring program for families raising children with developmental disabilities, matching families new to caring for children with a disability with those familiar with the experience.

When you talk to a CFL mentor, you discover that others have faced similar challenges. You will also find help in thinking through new solutions and learning how to celebrate your family's life.

Our mentors can help you:

  • Seek information and resources
  • Face changes and transitions
  • Ask tough questions
  • Advocate

Mentors listen and share experiences, strength, hope and resources through face-to-face,
phone and e-mail conversations. Through knowledge, a strong support network and the right
skills, you can make good choices, participate in all of life's activities and experience
a personally satisfying life.
