Adult Autism Services

adult autism services for autistic adultsNoble customizes its services to meet the needs of adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Noble has always served people with autism—approximately 15% of the adults we serve have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder—but now we are enhancing our services to meet the unique needs of these adults.

ASD is a neurological disorder that affects the functioning of the brain, impacting the development of social interaction and communication skills. Those with Autism Spectrum Disorder typically show difficulties in verbal and non-verbal communication, social interactions, and leisure/play activities. It is called a spectrum disorder to reflect the range of symptoms experienced. Today, over 1 million Americans live with an ASD, and Indiana is 4th in the nation for the prevalence of persons with an ASD.

Under the leadership of Autism Services Coordinator Molly Lang, we are enhancing staff training on the most effective and individualized interventions and tools, improving our sensory rooms and implementing the use of tools like Time Timers and Visual Schedules to help meet the unique needs of each person we serve.

Noble has also begun hosting Central Indiana Autism Support Group (formerly known as the Hamilton County Autism Support Group) to provide another vital support to people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families, complementing our holistic approach to the needs of this specific audience. Families throughout Central Indiana are welcome to utilize this group to help them overcome the many challenges they face in meeting the needs of their sons and daughters.
